Prepárate 2025: Turning Aspirations into Action

Denver, CO – The 2025 Prepárate™ Conference brought together hundreds of educators, students, and parents for an inspiring three-day experience focused on advancing Latino student success in college and careers. This nationally recognized event, hosted by the College Board, featured innovative strategies, powerful storytelling, and a shared commitment to turning student aspirations into real-world opportunities.

The conference concluded with a powerful conversation between Colorado Commissioner of Education Susana Córdova and College Board CEO David Coleman, exploring how relevant coursework can drive student engagement and long-term success.

“The College Board is listening to young people,” said Coleman. “Despite our best efforts, too many high schoolers are bored. We must figure out what excites them—and deliver coursework that connects directly to real careers. That’s why the College Board is developing new courses in cyber and business principles.”

Commissioner Cordova was also honored with the Modelo de la Comunidad Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to empowering the Latino community.

“It has been the privilege of my life to tell young people: there is more for you,” said Cordova. “Every educator here wants more for their students. I take that responsibility seriously—and I know the work we do paves the way for future generations.”

Throughout the event, Prepárate served as a dynamic platform for educators and advocates to exchange proven strategies, collaborate on new solutions, and address the unique educational and cultural needs of Latino communities.

One standout moment was a student panel featuring personal stories of academic growth and ambition.

“I didn’t look forward to taking AP Calculus, but I ended up loving it,” said Emmanuel Gonzales, a senior at Frederick High School. “My teacher’s passion lit a fire in me. Now I’m headed to college to study mechanical engineering.”

Another highlight was a special BigFuture® Live session, produced in collaboration with the Univision Foundation. Streamed entirely in Spanish, the event offered students and families practical advice on college and career planning—answering questions live from viewers around the country.

The conference also celebrated Latino culture with vibrant student performances that showcased the community’s diversity, energy, and pride—leaving attendees energized for the work ahead.
