College Board Drives a Transformative Week of Engagement on Martha’s Vineyard

College Board led a powerful week of programming on Martha’s Vineyard, bringing together educators, counselors and community leaders to amplify voices and support College Board’s mission to expand access and opportunity for all students.

Our work on the Vineyard was about deep listening, authentic connection, and reinforcing that College Board is here to serve all students. By creating space for honest conversations and elevating diverse perspectives, we’re strengthening our ability to meet students where they are and help them succeed.

Greg Walker, Senior Vice President, College Board State and District Partnerships

The week opened on Sunday, August 3, with Elevating Voices of Teacher and Student Experiences. Educators and students shared firsthand accounts of how College Board programs are shaping their futures.

College Board also hosted Spill the Tea: Real Talk on College Admissions, Financial Aid & More, a candid conversation with national college admissions leaders on navigating the evolving college admissions landscape.

Later in the week, sessions with college counselors fostered collaboration, and the Sankofa Sip: AP African American Studies Café Corner celebrated the growing influence of AP African American Studies. The week culminated at the historic Old Whaling Church with Written in the Waters, a moving conversation between National Geographic Explorer in Residence Tara Roberts and Emmy-winning journalist Byron Pitts. Through Roberts’s  groundbreaking work uncovering sunken slave ships, attendees reflected on the intersections of history, identity, and healing.
Across the week, College Board engaged with hundreds of participants, cultivated champions for its mission, and reinforced its role as a trusted organization.

Hosting these conversations on Martha’s Vineyard was intentional. It’s a place where history lives in the water and in the stories passed down through generations. It’s also a space where we can envision and commit to a future where every student has a clear path to success.
